As we all have our own ideas on jewellery and what we like to wear and sometimes we cannot quite find what we are looking for, this is your chance to put your creative talents to the test and join a group visiting the bead mecca of Hong Kong; Sham Shui Po. This area years ago only catered to wholesale visitors but has opened now more to accommodate retailers.

Its easy to get lost amongst the cross-sections of roads and there are so many outlets to visit that joining a group where you will be taken directly to the shops will save you a lot of time and shoe leather.

6 shops will be visited over a space of 2 hours that specialize in wood, shell, plastic, metal, ceramic, Swarovski crystal or all the semi-precious beads from Tigers Eye and Hematite to Aquamarine and Citrine. You can spend as little or as much as you like.

Tutor's discount will be extended to ladies on the tour.

The tour starts at the MTR exit of Sham Shui Po at 10am finishing at the last shop at 12pm.

This tour will take place on the Tuesday followed on the Thursday by a class where you are instructed in the assembling of your jewellery and shown which tools are needed.

All findings (ie clasps, thread, earring hooks, etc) to make up your sets are provided, however if you prefer to have silver or gold plated ones then you can buy small quantities in the class or be informed during the tour where to obtain these.

The venue for the classes at the moment are in Sai Kung, N.T.. MTR to Choi Hung then PLB.
